Trainee Legal Secretary Scheme

An excellent opportunity has arisen for ILSPA Students. Please read further if you are interested in joining a trainee Legal Secretary scheme run by the law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP), which is based in London.

The trainee Legal Secretary scheme (TLS) runs for 12 months, starting each year in July. BLP recruits eight trainee Legal Secretaries on a fixed-term contract each year from a range of secretarial colleges and training providers. Each trainee spends three months in four different departments, undertaking both soft skill and technical training. At the end of the year, BLP aims to place as many trainees as possible in permanent positions. To date the scheme has been very successful: in the last two years BLP has placed 100% of its trainees in permanent positions.

All those who are interested in joining the training scheme are invited to attend a presentation on either Thursday 12 or Friday 13 January 2012. The presentations are open to those who will have completed their studies and are able to join the TLS scheme in July 2012. There is likely to be an afternoon session on the Thursday (3.30pm-5.30pm) and a morning session on the Friday (10.00am-noon). This will be confirmed as the time grows near. ILSPA representatives will also be in attendance.

The presentations will provide an overview of the firm and its recent developments. Details will be given regarding the TLS scheme application process and what the 2012-2013 scheme year is likely to include. The aims of the presentations are for Students to gain an understanding of the firm and the scheme before making an application.

If you are interested in attending one of the sessions, please email us at train@institutelegalsecretaries.com by Thursday 5 January and specify which date is best for you. Thirty-five places have already been booked so far, and there are 15 places left.
